A St. Catharines woman has been arrested in connection with the fatal overdose of a man who police say was a member of her family.

Niagara police launched an investigation last month into the death of a 24-year-old man.

Police say he died inside his St. Catharines home. They say the man’s death was “directly caused by the consumption of an Opioid.”

On Monday, police arrested a 45-year-old woman in connection with his death.

She has been charged with trafficking a controlled substance and causing death by criminal negligence.

Police say the man and woman were related so her identity cannot be released in order to protect the identity of the deceased.

She is being held in custody pending a bail hearing on Tuesday.
