City of Hamilton employees must be fully vaccinated by spring or face termination

The city of Hamilton has voted in favour of requiring all employees to be vaccinated with at least two doses by spring or face termination.
Back in November, the city implemented a mandatory vaccination policy. Those who were unvaccinated or refused to disclose their vaccine status would have to do a rapid test twice a week to come into work.
The city says 474 employees have been undergoing regular testing and 63 staffers who refuse to test have been placed on unpaid leave.
The city’s human resources department says they have been getting free tests from the province for these employees, but now Ontario is prioritizing schools and hospitals. The city will have to pay $80,000 to supply tests until the May 31st deadline when all employees will need to have two doses of the vaccine to work for the city
Regions like Niagara, Durham Toronto, and York have already implemented this policy. The city of Toronto fired 461 employees this month who refused to get vaccinated and
Oakville fired 12.
City of Hamilton employees have until the end of May before they face possible termination.
