Niagara police look to find rightful owners of stolen collector’s items

Investigators are hoping to reunite several stolen items with their rightful owners after the property was seized during an arrest in Niagara Falls on New Year’s Day.

Officers were in the area of Main St. and Ferry St around 3:35 a.m. on Jan. 1 when they spotted a woman, who was wanted by police on an arrest warrant, getting into a vehicle with a male passenger.

The woman was arrested as well as the man after police discovered he was breaking court-ordered conditions.

Police searched the man and the vehicle and located suspected crystal methamphetamine, drug trafficking paraphernalia, pills, four cell phones, weapons, pepper spray, a Beretta pistol, a bolt cutter, lock picks, and various pieces of suspected stolen property.

Daniel Davyes, 43, of Niagara Falls is facing numerous charges weapons and drug trafficking-related charges.

Police are now trying to find the owners of the property seized during the arrests.

The items include a large coin collection, collector’s spoons, cufflinks and $1 and $2 bank notes that stopped being issued in 1989 and 1996, respectively.
