Investigators are hoping the public can help identify a man wanted in connection with two armed robberies on Hamilton Mountain over the weekend.

The first happened at the Tops Discount Foods near the Giant Tiger on Upper Ottawa St. and Larch St. around 5 p.m. on New Year’s Day.

Investigators say a man entered the store, pulled out a handgun and stole an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes.

Police say no shots were fired and no one was hurt during the robbery.

Investigators believe the same person is responsible for a robbery that happened the following day in the area of Upper Gage St. and Mohawk Rd. East.

The suspect is described as having a medium build and was wearing an all-black outfit including a hooded sweatshirt, sweatpants, gloves, toque, backpack and black boots or white shoes.

Detectives are asking residents in the areas where the incidents took place to check their surveillance cameras for footage between the hours of 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Sgt. Andrea Torrie at 905-546-2991 or Det. Const. Adam Kimber at 905-540-6322.
