What can make watching your favourite movie even more fun? A great bottle of wine.

Wine critic Natalie McLean joined Bob Cowan on Morning Live with wine pairings for five classic movies.

Bridget Jones’s Diary

McLean said she’d raise a glass of Cupcake Light Hearted Chardonnay to one of her favourite rom-coms, Bridget Jones’s Diary.

This chardonnay only has 100 calories making it “great for movie stars and fans watching their waistlines,” McLean said.

While you’re watching Bridget Jones’s Diary, she said this wine pairs well with seafood or field greens.

Sex in the City

If you’re sipping on a glass (or two) of Invivo X French Rosé, McLean recommended watching Sex in the City.

This rosé was made in collaboration with Sarah Jessica Parker, who played Carrie Bradshaw in Sex in the City.

A Walk in the Clouds

To accompany the romance A Walk in the Clouds, McLean recommended Tribute Cabernet Sauvignon or Bella Union Cabernet Sauvignon.

Both of these blockbuster wines are made in California, which is suitable for this movie that was filmed in a California vineyard during World War II.

Sideways

Next up, Quails Gate Pinot Noir and Longshot Pinot Noir pair well with one of the funniest wine-related movies, Sideways.

“The thing about pinot noir is that it’s called the ‘heartbreak grape’ because it’s hard to grow but it’s great and you fall in love with it,” McLean said.

Casablanca

The final wines McLean recommended were Juve y Camps Pinot Noir Brut Rosé Cava or Peller Estates Signature Series Ice Cuvée Rosé, which pair well with Casablanca.

She said the perfect scene to sip on these wines is when Ingrid Bergman and Humphrey Bogart are saying goodbye.
