Hamilton mayor talks parks, Spring bulb show, NHL Heritage Classic

There’s a lot going on in Hamilton this week, so we checked in with Mayor Fred Eisenberger.
The NHL Heritage Classic is being held at Tim Horton’s Field on Sunday, March 13. The Maple Leafs will take on the Sabres.
“We’re looking forward to it,” said Eisenberger. “It’s going to be a full house, Toronto and Buffalo, the old rivals are playing each other and I think it’s an exciting time to have it come to Hamilton.”
The ice will be left at the stadium for the following night, because the Hamilton Bulldogs will be playing.
At Gage Park, spring is underway with the Spring Tide Bulb Show. From March 11 to March 20, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Spring Tide Bulb Show will be open for visitors. It features beautiful flower displays and the smell of spring.
“It is a nice warm environment and I’m sure the Bulb Show will be impressive like it is every year,” said Eisenberger.
The city is working on its Park’s Masterplan and it needs feedback from the Hamilton community. Eisenberger says the city wants to get an idea of the short-term, medium-term and long-term needs are in the city’s park infrastructure.
“We have a survey going on, you can go to engage.hamilton.ca and make your comments known to the Hamilton Parks Masterplan survey,” said Eisenberger. “Hopefully that will help inform us of what the longer-term needs are going to be in parks and park facilities.”
