For the second year in a row, the annual Soupfest has pivoted because of the pandemic. This annual fundraiser for Living Rock Youth Centre is usually held at the Convention Centre but instead, participating restaurants will sell their soup at their establishment.

One of those participating is Nellie James and their chef, Ken LeFebour joined us this morning.

Soupfest is the major annual fundraiser for Living Rock Youth Centre, a local non-profit in Hamilton. It has been supporting vulnerable youth since 1985.

This year’s Soupfest sees participating restaurants offering a signature competing soup during their hours of operation. A percentage of each soup will support Living Rock and the balance will support local restaurants. Each restaurant decides what amount they will donate and that amount can be built into the price of the soup.

Nellie James’ soup is called White Ghost . It is vegan and includes white beans, ghost peppers, onions and carrots with cilantro on the side. It is $8 per serving and you can call 905-627-3252 to place an order for take-our.
