Campaign encourages spending time outdoors to turn your blahs into ahhhs

The Trans Canada Trail second annual #Blahst2Ahhhs campaign invites Canadians to tap into the feel-good mental, physical, and emotional health benefits that come from spending time outdoors. To promote how nature and physical activity are important for mental, social and physical health for the whole family and how Canadians can make the most of the trails across the country, particularly given the continued pandemic.
To talk about how nature and physical activity are important for your health we welcomed chief marketing officer from the Trans Canada Trail, Meghan Reddick.
“We’re really encouraging Canadians to get outside, get on the Trans Canada Trail, spend time outdoors connecting with nature, with friends and with family,” said Reddick. “The pandemic has really caused many of us to feel the mental and physical health impacts.”
Recent Léger research conducted for Trans Canada Trail shows that trail use is up 41 per cent across Canada since the onset of the pandemic and 95 per cent of Canadians said they are using trails to boost their mental and physical health.
The Trans Canada Trail is the world’s longest trail and 80 per cent of Canadians live within 30 minutes of the trail.
Reddick says there are tips on the Trans Canada Trail website on how to be active. She says safety is really important and encourages people to prepare anytime they are going on a hike.
The #Blahs2Ahhhs campaign encourages people to take pictures of themselves on the Trans Canada Trail. To enter a contest, people must post a photo with the #Blahs2Ahhhs and #TransCanadaTrail.
