Tips to cut out single-use plastics in your kitchen

We welcomed sustainability expert and food writer Puneeta Chhitwal-Varma to our kitchen for some practical ideas for cutting out single-use plastics.
One of the biggest tips she had was to start with a trash audit of your kitchen waste bin. If you find you are throwing away multiple containers of one type, there might be a better way to store that food or item. For example, rather than multiple individual yogurt cups in your waste, buy one bigger container and spoon yogurt into a reusable cup.
Another way we can cut back on single-use plastics is to BYOE or ‘Bring Your Own Everything’. From reusable water bottles to cloth bags for groceries, to metal straws for drinks, bringing your own items can help cut back on the need for single-use plastics.
