Teen arrested in Hamilton car thefts linked to recreation facilities

First Published:

Hamilton police have arrested a teenage boy following a series of car thefts linked to change rooms at local recreation facilities.

Police worked closely with City of Hamilton recreation facilities to investigate the incidents.

Surveillance footage provided by the City helped to identify the 15-year-old and trace his involvement in the thefts.

Further investigation revealed video footage from various gas stations, which linked the Hamilton teen to gas drive-offs in stolen vehicles.

The un-named individual was charged with three counts of vehicle theft, three counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and four counts of theft under $5,000.

All of the vehicles linked to his arrest have been recovered.
