Teen arrested in Lincoln Alexander Parkway speeding fatality

Hamilton police have arrested a teenaged male in connection to a vehicular speeding fatality on the Lincoln Alexander Parkway on Friday.

The collision happened around 2:30 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of the Linc near Upper Gage Avenue overpass.

Vincenzino Stumpo, 18, of Hamilton has been arrested and charged with dangerous operation causing bodily harm and dangerous operation causing death. A bail hearing for the accused is scheduled for Tuesday.

Witnesses reported that two or three vehicles were racing eastbound on the Parkway when two of the vehicles collided and lost control.

One vehicle was able to regain control but a Toyota SUV left the road and rolled a few times. According to police one or more occupants were ejected from the Toyota.

Three occupants of the Toyota were transported to hospital with serious injuries.

One of the injured, a 15-year-old male from Hamilton, was pronounced dead soon after at the hospital.

Family members have identified the victim as Jayden Ezra Durant Russell. A GoFundMe campaign has been started to help the family cover funeral costs.

The death was Hamilton’s tenth fatality from a vehicular collision this year.

Due to the severity of the injuries, the Collision Reconstruction Unit was called in and a stretch of the Lincoln Alexander was closed for several hours following the investigation.

Investigators are still seeking the identity of any other vehicles or persons involved.
