Police search for man after attempted teen abduction in Welland

Niagara police say they are seeking a suspect who allegedly tried to abduct a 15-year-old girl in Welland on Wednesday night.

According to officials, the teen was in the area of Welland River and Courthouse Lane when a man driving a black SUV pulled up beside her.

Police allege the suspect then got out of the SUV and tried to get the victim into his vehicle.

She was able to escape before anything further happened.

The man police believe to be connected to this incident is described as being between 40 or 50 years of age, with tan skin and a “wrinkly” face.

He has black and grey neck-length hair, a short beard and moustache.

Officers also say the suspect stands about five-foot-eight tall, and has a medium build.
