Single-vehicle collision results in firearm charges for Selkirk man

A single-vehicle collision near Hagersville on Sunday has led to multiple criminal charges for a 25-year-old Selkirk man.

Haldimand OPP were called to Haldimand Road 9 just before 1 p.m. after receiving a report of a single-vehicle collision.

Upon arrival, police discovered that a vehicle had left the roadway and determined that the driver had consumed alcohol.

The individual was placed under arrest and was transported to an OPP detachment for testing.

As a result of the investigation, Brody Harvie has been named and charged with the following offences:

— Operation While Impaired, Blood Alcohol Concentration (80-plus)
— Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
— Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
— Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing there was Firearm
— Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammo
— Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition
— Driver Fail to Surrender Licence

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on Oct. 29.
