Canada’s most ‘fighting-est’ ship rings in 81st anniversary: HMCS Haida

First Published:

Canada’s most “fighting-est” ship is ringing in her 81st birthday with a special event.

The last remaining Tribal-class destroyer of her kind, the ship was first commissioned in 1943.

In her 20 years of service, it earned the reputation as the country’s most “fighting-est” ship for attaining the feat of having sunk more enemy vessels than any other Canadian naval ship in history.

Throughout Saturday and Sunday, the National Historical Sites department of Parks Canada will be offered tours to give the public an up and close look of the ship, her functions, and several demonstrations of her cannon throughout the weekend.

Each day, the 4″ guns will left fire at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 2 p.m. Admission starts at $4.50, and is free for youth.

Alongside the days’ events, there will be light refreshments, souvenirs for those who arrive early, and more.
