Niagara police arrest 34-year-old man after aggravated assault

First Published:

Police have arrested a 34-year-old man in connection to the aggravated assault of another man earlier in August in St. Catharines.

Officers responded to a welfare check on August 10, to the area of Merritt Street and Townline Road East where they found an injured man.

Detectives allege that the man was assaulted after encountering a group of four men. The man says that after he met with the group, one man from the group approached him and repeatedly struck him.

Emergency crews sent the man to hospital to treat his serious injuries.

Officers arrested 34-year-old Raymond Douglas Warner from the Niagara region in St. Catharines on Tuesday after issuing a warrant for his arrest.

Warner has been charged with aggravated assault and is being held in custody until his scheduled appearance at video bail hearing on Wednesday to a St. Catharines courthouse.
