Watermain break forces more lane restrictions on Hamilton’s Cannon Street

Cannon Street East in Hamilton is facing further lane restrictions Monday morning as city crews respond to a watermain break.

In a post on X shortly before 9 a.m., the City of Hamilton says there was a watermain break near 109 Cannon St. East.

Cannon Street East will be closed between Mary and Catharine streets for repairs.

The city says the bike lane along Cannon Street East will also be blocked off.

Work is expected to wrap up by 6 p.m.

Cannon Street West has already been reduced to one lane between James and Queen streets as part of a long-term construction project.
