Niagara Police charge Welland educational assistant with sexual assault

First Published:

Niagara Police has charged a 48-year-old educational assistant with sexual assault of a 14-year-old boy in Welland.

Detectives say Tracy Coleman from Port Colborne was alleged to be in an intimate relationship with one of her students for three months while she was employed at St. Mary’s Catholic School at 120 Plymouth Rd.

Coleman has been charged with both sexual assault and sexual interference offences.

The department says it began an investigation in June to look into allegations of sexual incidents in the Region of Niagara.

Detectives say they have reason to believe there may be more victims.

Coleman was held in custody pending a bail hearing that was scheduled to take place on Sunday at the St. Catharines courthouse.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 905-688-4111, option 3, ext. 1025100.
