Certain Ford F-150 pickup trucks recalled in Canada over transmission issue

First Published:

A major recall is in the works for one of Canada’s most popular pickup trucks, but luckily it only affects vehicles built in one particular year.

The 2014 Ford F-150 is being recalled due to a problem with the transmission that can cause it to unexpectedly downshift in first gear, regardless of vehicle speed.

That could lead to a crash, especially since the downshift could come without any warning to the driver.

In an email to CHCH News, Ford Canada says it will recall about 95,000 trucks, but the company believes only about one per cent of them will actually have the problem.

Ford is recalling more than 550,000 trucks in the U.S., which also could have the same problem.

A repair is expected to be available by the fall of this year.
