Officials investigating ‘suspicious’ fire at Oakville home

First Published:

A house fire in Oakville is being investigated merely a week after another incident had emergency crews called out to the same property.

No one was injured but the home has been badly damaged.

Fire crews were called out to the residence near Bridge Road and Third Line shortly before 3 a.m.

By sunrise, crews had managed to wrestle control of the blaze.

“I woke up to a really loud noise and my sister was telling me, ‘wake up, there’s a fire. Thankfully, no one was injured,” Mostafa Talab told CHCH News.

Oakville’s Deputy Fire Chief Drew Boys said the cause of Thursday’s fire remains under investigation.

Officials say it has the characteristics of a suspicious fire and is being investigated as so, adding that the home is currently unoccupied.

The Ontario Fire Marshall has been notified.

This is the second fire-related incident that has taken place at this property.

Last Saturday, a fire broke out in the garage around 2:30 a.m. It, too, was brought under control with no injuries. Police say it remains under investigation and call the blaze “suspicious.”

Anyone in the area with video surveillance between 2 a.m. to 3 a.m. is asked to contact authorities by calling 905-825-4777.
