$200K worth of stolen vehicles recovered in Dubai: Halton police

First Published:

Halton police and Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) have partnered on an investigation that led to the recovery of four vehicles in Dubai, estimated at $200,000 in value.

Police say the recovered vehicles were among those previously flagged as part of the region’s ongoing investigation into stolen vehicles being transported to Dubai.

That investigation that dates back to March 2023 led to the recovery of 24 stolen vehicles that were intended to be re-sold in Dubai before being intercepted in Morocco.

With a seizure worth an estimated $2.1-million, it has been deemed the largest ever seizure in Morocco of stolen vehicles hailing from Canada.

In the most recent case, police say two shipping containers containing the vehicles were rerouted to Canada before investigators obtained custody of them.

According to police, one Lexus found in the containers was stolen from Halton, two Ford F-150’s were stolen from Peel and Toronto and one Land Rover Range Rover taken from Peel were in the containers.

The investigation into the transportation of stolen vehicles to Dubai remains active and ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 905-825-4777 ext. 3407.
