Disappointment online after Ontario NDP remove Sarah Jama from caucus

First Published:

Sarah Jama is still trending across Canada today, 24 hours after she was removed from the Ontario NDP’s caucus.

There’s been a host of reaction online after party leader Marit Stiles walked back her initial support of Jama.

Supporters of Jama were disappointed in the Ontario NDP’s reaction after the Hamilton legislator was silenced at Queen’s Park for a statement she made on the Israel-Hamas conflict.

Jama has since apologized but not retracted the statement, leading the majority Progressive Conservatives to table a now-passed motion preventing her from participating in debates, and calling on the Speaker to not recognize her in the house.

For more reaction, we were joined by Jessa McClean, community organizer and political analyst.
