16-year-old Port Colborne boy dies in serious dirt bike crash

A 16-year-old boy has died after a dirt bike crash in Port Colborne on July 21.

Niagara police say they were called along with Niagara EMS and Port Colborne Fire Service for an ambulatory call July 21 around 8:30 p.m.

Responding crews arrived to the area of Sherwood Forest Lake and Omer Ave. in Port Colborne where they found a 16-year-old boy in critical condition suffering from life threatening injuries.

The boy was transported to an out of region hospital where he would succumb to his injuries on July 24.

Detectives from the Niagara Regional Police Service Collision Reconstruction Unit determined through investigation that the teen had been driving a dirt bike when it crashed, resulting in the significant injuries.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing and anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the investigating officers by calling 905-0688-4111, option 3, extension 1009170.
