Arrest made after false claim of Niagara cop impersonator pulling over motorist

First Published:

Police have arrested a person who made up a story about a man who allegedly impersonated a cop and pulled them over in Niagara Falls Monday evening.

Officers say the complainant claimed to be driving on Drummond Rd. near Prospect St. shortly before 6:30 p.m. when a black vehicle with white doors turned on its red and blue emergency lighting.

The complainant said they stopped on the side of the road and the man supposedly impersonating a police officer approached the vehicle.

When the complainant became suspicious of the man, the complainant asked for the man’s name and badge number. According to the complainant, the man then returned to his vehicle and fled the area.
