800 grams of drugs recovered from Central Hamilton apartment

A Hamilton man and another individual are facing charges after about 800 grams of narcotics were discovered in a Central Hamilton apartment on Friday.

The investigation first started three months ago in the Niagara Region when police suspected the distribution of illegal drugs in St. Catharines.

Members of Hamilton police assisted Niagara officers on Friday as they carried out a search warrant at an apartment located on John St. between Robert and Cannon St. East.

Police seized 743.7 grams of suspected fentanyl and 54.6 grams of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of $156,260.

Juwan Osei, 25, of Hamilton is charged with three separate offences including possession for the purpose of trafficking as well as possession of proceeds obtained by crime under $5,000.

Fernando Manuel Debarros, 49, of Kitchener is also charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds obtained by crime under $5,000.

The accused attended court in St. Catharines on Friday and were remanded into the custody of Ontario Correctional Services.
