Court documents show that the 73-year-old man who shot and killed five people at a condo in Vaughan Sunday night had a long-standing dispute with his condo board.

Three of the five people killed in the mass shooting on Sunday at a building at 9235 Jane St. were members of the condo board.

The wife of a board member remains in hospital with serious injuries.

York Regional Police identified the suspected gunman as building resident Francesco Villi, who was killed by police.

Villi had a lengthy history of threatening members of the building’s board. He believed they were involved in a conspiracy to “systematically murder” him.

Condo board member Tony Cutrone says many of the victims were salt-of-the-earth volunteers just trying to make residents happy.

Court documents and online posts suggest Villi’s dispute with the board stemmed from his belief that his health was suffering because of electromagnetic waves he said were being emitted from the electrical room beneath his unit.

Court documents show that Villi was set to return to court on Monday as the board sought to have him evicted for being a nuisance.

The board tried to have a judge find him in contempt for violating a previous order not to contact it, to stop threatening its members and building staff, and to cease posting about them on social media.
