Researchers at St Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton have won a total of $3.7 million in research funding from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.
Dr Deborah Cook won the prestigious foundation scheme award, totalling $2.5 million. Cook’s award will help further her research on how to improve the outcome of critically ill patients. Her “three wishes” program was featured on CHCH News earlier this week.
Cook’s colleague, Dr Michelle Kho, received $332,000 to help expand a cycling program that helps reduce leg weakness in ICU patients. The rest of the funding will help improve patient care in a number of clinical areas.
