Archery Terminal just opened in Mississauga and they’re offering players a chance to relive their playground days with a fast paced, action packed game.

If you got picked last in gym class, consider archery tag an opportunity to redeem yourself.

Nick Ng, a trainer at Archery Terminal, explains how it all goes.

“There’s a lot of arrows coming so you’ve got to dodge and make sure you’re shooting but you’ve got to watch out for other people who are shooting at you too.”

It’s been likened to dodgeball on steroids.

The rules are simple: you’re hit, you’re out. If a teammate hits the opposing target they can bring you back in.

“There’s two ways to win in the game. The first way is just to tag out the other team. And the second way is to shoot all five of their targets out.”

Each session at Archery Terminal includes 25 minutes of training before you hit the court. Which is a good thing because shooting a bow requires practice. And so does taking a hit.

Ray Fung, co-owner of Archery Terminal has this advice for players.

“Get hit first. People who get hit first will play a lot more intense after. It doesn’t hurt at all…being shot at.”

The game isn’t just aim and bravery. After an hour on the court, you’ll work up a sweat.

“You’re hiding behind bunkers, crouching, just running. It’s a really intense cardio workout. Also you get a lot of workout on your back as well just from squaring back and pulling off arrow and bows.”

When your friends are the targets, it’s easy to find the energy.

“We have a lot of people come in who have archery experience, some of them go hunting too and they just want to shoot some friends.”

Shooting friends is great, but being the target is even better.
