Learning new tricks at Circus School

Its tough to find ways to keep your kids active and away from the screen when they’re not in school. Today none of these kids had TV on the brain. They were all focused on learning new tricks and techniques at Zacada Circus School in Stoney Creek.
The instructor makes it look easy but it takes years of practice and incredibly strong arm muscles to pull off tricks on the silks. “A lot of upper body strength, a lot of coordination. A lot of flexibility” says Co-owner Kosta Zakharenko. That’s not stopping todays circus camp students from giving it their best shot.
At Zacada Circus School, kids of all ages and skill levels can spin, jump and swing under an imaginary big top. Circus camp targets every part of your body as you jump from station to station.
“They try something and they learn a new trick and they’re like, ‘oh I like silks now’ or ‘I like trampoline or I like acrobatics.”
Some students have hopes of flying high one day but the ultimate goals are physical activity and fun.
