Santa’s elves took on a much different shape at McMaster Children’s Hospital Wednesday, as a handful of Hamilton Tiger-Cats greeted some of the patients with gifts direct from the North Pole.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats donned their jerseys, but traded helmets for Christmas caps, when they visited the youngsters at McMaster Children’s Hospital.

Defensive tackle Brian Bulcke took particular pride in helping the kids choose a special gift from the piles of toys: “Give him a shot, make sure they work. I’m already injured though.”

Bulcke has seen plenty of doctors in the past few months. He missed the last 8 games of the regular season, as well as the playoffs, when he injured his arm during a game against the Roughriders.

Bulcke: “I tore the bicep off the radial head and they had to go in and surgically re-attach the entire bicep. So it’s coming along, it’s a little baby bicep, but week by week its getting stronger.”

Bulcke spends time every day working on his own physical rehabilitation, but was thrilled to take time on this day to help bring a smile to some young fans who might not be able to leave the hospital at all this Christmas season: “Outside of a 2nd and long sack on a Labour Day Classic this is probably the best thing that we can do.”
