Hamilton Mayor Andrea Horwath hospitalized following accident-related injury

Hamilton Mayor Andrea Horwath’s office has released a statement saying she is receiving treatment in hospital after “sustaining an injury in an accident.”

“She is awaiting surgery and further assessment to determine the full extent of treatment required,” the statement read.

“Mayor Horwath remains in good spirits and is in regular communication with her team. We thank Hamiltonians for their continued support, understanding, and well wishes.”

The mayor’s office alluded to the possibility that Horwath may take a short leave of absence depending on the extent of her injuries and how much time she will need to recover.
