Hamilton police recover two vehicles used in fatal shooting of innocent bystander

Hamilton police have recovered two vehicles believed to have been involved in a shooting that killed an innocent bystander last Thursday evening.
The shooting happened on April 17 around 7:30 p.m. in the area of Upper James Street and South Bend Road.
Investigators say an altercation resulted in the passenger of a black Mercedes SUV firing gunshots at the occupants of a white Hyundai Elantra.
One of the gunshots hit 21-year-old Harsimrat Randhawa of India in the chest shortly after stepping off a bus, she later died of her injuries in hospital.
“We know that Harsimrat had recently attended a gym in the upper area of Hamilton. She had taken a city bus to that location and had been waiting to cross the street. This is when she was struck by a stray bullet,” said Acting Det. Sgt. Daryl Reid in an update to the media.
“I know from watching the video that it happened very quickly. Harsimrat had zero capability of avoiding what was about to unfold in front of her, she had no time at all to react” said Reid.

Police say both vehicles fled the scene.
With the assistance of the Toronto Police Service, the Elantra was recovered on April 20 in a residential area in northwest Toronto.
The vehicle was then towed to Hamilton for examination.
The following day, officers executed a search warrant at a central Hamilton home and recovered the Mercedes SUV, which is now being searched for evidence.
Investigators say they have narrowed down the pool of people who they believe are associated with the two vehicles.
Reid says they are encouraged to contact a lawyer and turn themselves in to police.
