Poilievre vows not to pass law restricting abortion if he becomes PM

ST. CATHARINES, ONT. — Pierre Poilievre says there would be no laws passed restricting access to abortion in Canada if he becomes prime minister.
The Conservative leader made the pledge in St. Catharines, Ont., today in response to a reporter’s question.
He says that promise will be included explicitly in the party’s platform.
Poilievre says it has been the Conservative party’s policy for 21 years that there will be no restrictions introduced on a woman’s right to choose.
Despite that, abortion has been a divisive issue within the Conservative ranks in previous elections.
Liberal Leader Mark Carney also says he supports a woman’s right to choose and would defend it in office, and the NDP is pushing for more access to abortion care in Canada.
