Canada unclear on Trump’s 90-day pause on reciprocal tariffs

While the rest of the world is breathing a sigh of relief after receiving a 90-day pause on Trump’s reciprocal tariffs, it’s unclear where Canada fits into the equation.

Overnight, the country amped up its retaliatory measures against the U.S., implementing auto tariffs similar to the ones put in place by the Trump administration.

Prime Minister Mark Carney says Canada will continue to respond with purpose, and with force.

The White House has not yet provided any clarification on whether this pause on tariffs will make its way to Canada.

In the meantime, Carney’s new counter tariffs will target American-made vehicles, and in some cases, American car parts.
