Craig Brooks has been convicted of second-degree murder for the 2023 killing of Antonio Beltrano in Hamilton’s J.C. Beemer Park.

He is set to be sentenced at a later date.

Tuesday in court, the jury considered some difficult evidence, including shocking photos and a harrowing 9-1-1 call from a witness.

In the recording, a woman can be heard frantically describing the scene to 9-1-1 dispatchers.

“This man might be dead on the ground,” she said.

“I’m just watching him stomp on a man’s head on the ground, right at this park – J.C. Beemer.”

The court also saw images of the clothing Brooks was wearing at the time of his arrest, as well as photos from the scene where 45-year-old Beltrano suffered the fatal beating.

In Canada, second-degree murder and manslaughter carry a maximum life sentence.
