Portion of Airport Rd. East closed following break and enter

Hamilton Police have closed a part of Airport Rd. East following a break and enter at a home early Friday morning.
Officers have closed Airport Rd. East between Upper James Street and Miles Road as part of a break and enter investigation.

Investigators say at just before 2:30 a.m. a break and enter happened at a home on the road.
Police say they flooded the area quickly and located a suspect in a nearby field.
The road will be closed while the forensic unit attends and processes the scene.
Detectives say the road closure is due in part to the lack of light and the requirement to complete an additional K9 search for evidence in the area.
It is unknown how long the road will be closed.
Police say they have arrested 20-year-old Andre White from Ajax, and have charged him with break and enter and robbery.
Investigators say a gun was found after the morning search with the K9 unit.
They say the homeowner had minor injuries but was not transferred to hospital.
Officers posted on X just after 4 a.m. that the road was closed.
