QEW ramp in Grimsby partially closed after transport truck nearly plummets off overpass

A two-vehicle car accident in Grimsby nearly sent a tractor trailer plummeting off the Christie Street overpass and onto the QEW.

No one was injured and part of the roadway remains closed.

“The northbound roadway on Christie Street is closed and there is a partial closure on the QEW eastbound ramp,” police say.

Images from the scene show the transport truck precariously sitting alongside the berm which separates the overpass from the QEW.

Police say they were called out to the scene around 1:41 p.m. Thursday.

At this time, the cause of the crash remains unclear and no charges have been laid. Investigators remain on scene and say the investigation is in its “infancy.”
