Niagara police charge man linked to Las Vegas fraud investigation

Niagara police have arrested and charged a man Tuesday who was linked to an investigation of an alleged real estate fraud in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Officers say they began an investigation in February after they were contacted by a real estate agent in Las Vegas, who was suspicious that someone from Niagara Falls had tried to defraud the real estate agent and their client.

The agent said an individual had contacted him claiming to be interested in purchasing a property that he listed for sale. They said after an extended period they became worried the individual was trying to defraud them.

Detectives say they identified 58-year-old Anthony Pierce of Niagara Falls as a result of the investigation and charged him with breach of a conditional sentence.

Police say Pierce was charged in May 2022 with fraud over $5,000 and received a conditional sentence on his conviction.

Niagara police arrested Pierce Tuesday and remanded him into custody.

Detectives say they have reason to believe there may be more victims and encourage them to come forward and contact police.
