As the New Year approaches, the town of Milton will see improved transit services in 2025 and a new Sunday bus run.

Through the support of Milton’s town council and its approval of the 2025 budget, Milton Transit will officially begin to put its five-year service plan into action.

The ‘Milton Transit Five-Year Service Plan’ and ‘Master Plan Update’ sets out a re-designed transit network to guide transit planning and operations to at least 2029. Key initiatives include:

  • The Town of Milton matching Halton Region’s contribution in the Subsidized Passes for Low Income Transit (SPLIT) program. This will provide a 100 per cent subsidy on transit tickets and passes for eligible low-income Milton residents, ensuring that local transit is more accessible and affordable for those in need.
  • Expanded service hours Monday to Friday until 10:30 p.m., starting in September.
  • A new Sunday service from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., starting in September.
  • The purchase of seven new buses to meet growing trip demand and reduce wait times, for service expansion in 2026.

The Town of Milton said that it continues to see an increase in ridership, and — for the first time — surpassed one million riders on its transit system this year.

In a press release the Town added: “Council’s budget investment in Milton Transit supports the improvement of services as the town grows, while continuing to make transit efficient, reliable, and ready for the future.”
