Mother jumps over Niagara Falls with 2 children, recovery efforts unsuccessful

A 33-year-old mother climbed over a safety rail and intentionally went over Niagara Falls with her two children on Monday night.
New York State Police say that the mother jumped over a safety rail on Luna Island around 9 p.m. and took her nine-year-old and five-month-old with her.
Search efforts to recover the bodies have so far been unsuccessful.
“The investigation has determined that this incident was intentional in nature,” state police said in a news release.
The authorities continue to investigate the circumstances behind the deaths. Aircraft and underwater units are involved in the search.
