Staff at McMaster Children’s Hospital and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats both benefit from one thing — teamwork. So it’s no surprise they’ve joined up for some special young patients.
It’s called “Hearts in the Huddle”. Six patient ambassadors have been chosen for the game-changing partnership to benefit Mac Kids. Owner Bob Young was on hand along with a hand-full of Tiger-Cats and members of the Prowl. Some of the visits have already started. Ticats mascot T.C. helped talk to some of the participants.
Mike Filer and Josh: “What we do is we go to McMaster Children’s Hospital. We go and see the kids and put a smile on their face and Josh has the opportunity to come see us play this Thursday against Winnipeg. We got him some tickets and he’s gotta beautiful jersey there and he’s gonna get 68 printed on it and he’s gonna be 68’s biggest fan.”
Jessica is a patient: “All of the doctors and surgeons, football players — programs like this that make us feel safe and like we’re gonna be okay.”
The Ticats will provide tickets and special game-day field passes for patients and their families. But the organizations say the real value of the program are the visits for kids not well enough to attend.
