Family and friends in Six Nations are honouring the loss of Dylan Isaacs after he was shot and killed in Miami on Sunday.

Dylan’s mother says after attending an NFL game, Dylan was walking from the stadium when a person in a vehicle bumped into him, and that led to the fatal encounter.

Dylan is being remembered for his humor and kindness here in our community, as police in Miami try to catch the person responsible for his death.

“He didn’t deserve this, he didn’t deserve to die this way,” says his mother, Susan Isaacs.

Susan says after attending last night’s Miami Dolphins-Buffalo Bills game at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, he was bumped by a vehicle while walking with friends and family.

“He tried to catch the guy who hit him, and the guy just shot him…he just shot him, he shot my son.”

Miami Gardens Police have yet to identify Dylan as the victim but say they responded to a location near the stadium, just before midnight for reports of a man shot.

When they arrived officers performed CPR to try and save the man, but it was too late – he was pronounced dead on scene by first responders.

In an email to CHCH News, police say a preliminary investigation revealed a man and his friends were walking through traffic and got into a verbal argument with a suspect driving a vehicle.

Detectives say that the suspect got out of his car and fired multiple rounds, killing the man before fleeing the scene.

Susan says Dylan’s friends stayed with him to the end.

“They watched him die.”

Police say they were able to track down the vehicle that the suspect fled the scene in and describe it as a silver four-door Honda Accord.

American authorities were able to track down and seize the vehicle in Palm Beach County, Florida.

Police add that a suspect has been identified and interviewed, but the investigation remains ongoing.

On Monday, his brother Braedyn Isaacs and more than a dozen other members of the family sat with Susan to remember Dylan as a caring and involved family member, who had a love of all things Star Wars.

“He was like my big teddy bear, my protector…he’s such a funny hilarious guy and we’re remembering him with laughs.”

The family has made arrangements to bring Dylan home for burial.

Not only is Dylan remembered fondly by his family, but an outpouring of support came from his community in the wake of the tragic news.

“This truly is sad news,” Chief Sherri-Lyn Hill said. “We extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends.”

Hill said that Dylan had been a dedicated employee with the Six Nations of the Grand River since 2021.

In the meantime, Susan reflecting on her loss, is offering these words to our community.

“Never take people for granted, always love hard, forgive, don’t carry grudges.”

A GoFundMe created on behalf of the family has already raised over $50,000.
