Robbie Robertson, leader of The Band, dies at 80

One of rock’s greatest songwriters and musicians, Robbie Robertson, has died at the age of 80.
As the guitarist and lead writer for The Band, Robertson sourced American music and history to write classics like “The Weight” and “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down.”
He later worked on the soundtracks for several Martin Scorsese movies, after Scorsese directed the band’s rock documentary “The Last Waltz.”
