Friday is the 38th anniversary of the bombing of Air India Flight 182, the deadliest terrorist attack in Canadian history.

Rob Alexander, whose father, Dr. Anchanett Alexander was among the 329 people killed in the 1985 bombing of Air India Flight 182 spoke with CHCH News. He says his father was a surgeon in Hamilton at the former Chedoke Hospital and McMaster Hospital.

Alexander says he was 15 years old when his father decided to unexpectedly fly to India to visit his elderly mother when the plane exploded over the coast of Ireland, killing everyone on board.

“We never forget, today is just a designated day, but we never forget,” Alexander said.

A recent report has been shared that overall, nine in ten know little or nothing of the disaster. Alexander believes that more needs to be done to change that.

Alexander and his family hope that the day of remembrance will help educate Canadians about Air India Flight 182, and its significance in Canada’s history.
