Mary Walsh brought her humour and wit to St Joseph’s Mental Health Morning.
Walsh is best known for bringing laughs to the CBC’s This Hour Has 22 Minutes. But what most people don’t know about Walsh is her struggle with alcoholism.
This morning she shared her story of recovery to the mental health and addiction program.
“Even before I drank, I was miserable. I just had the disease of alcoholism. I felt alone, abandoned and I drank to make a difference and the drinking just really made things worse.
“Looking back of course everything is so clear, everything is 20-20 when you’ve got hindsight, right?”
Walsh says she tries to give a message of hope for those who struggle with addictions.
