(Update)
The Liberals are promising to extend workplace protection for Ontario firefighters. This means firefighters — and their families — are getting support and care they need by adding six cancers to the list presumed to be related to their work.

Premier Wynne: “Fire fighters face incredible risks every day — not only in the blazes they battle but in the smoke that they breathe in and all that’s in that smoke that they inhale.”

If approved, the changes would make it easier for firefighters to qualify for benefits. Breast cancer, multiple myeloma and testicular cancer will be added to the list right away. Prostate cancer, lung cancer and skin cancer will be phased in by 2017.
