Legendary actress and singer Doris Day dies at age 97

Day’s sweet voice, wholesome blonde beauty and ultra-bright smile brought her a string of hits, and helped propel her to fame in the 1950s and 60s. She became one of the most popular screen actresses of all time. The Doris Day Animal Foundation confirmed Day died early Monday at her Carmel Valley, California, home. According to The Associated Press, the foundation said she was surrounded by close friends and “had been in excellent physical health for her age, until recently contracting a serious case of pneumonia.”
