A hearing will be scheduled on whether or not Bill Cosby should be classified as a “sexually violent predator.”

Pennsylvania’s Sexual Offenders Assessment Board recommended the classification on Tuesday.

Under Pennsylvania law, a sexually violent predator is a person who has a mental abnormality or personality disorder that makes them likely to engage in predatory sexually violent offences.

The status requires increased treatment in prison and increased notifications to neighbours upon his release.

Cosby’s spokesperson vowed to fight the recommendation in court.

The 81-year-old disgraced comedian was convicted of aggravated indecent assault in April.

He was accused of drugging and assaulting former Temple University employee Andrea Constand at his home near Philadelphia in 2004.

Cosby is due to be sentenced Sept. 24 and is facing up to 10 years in prison.

State law already requires Cosby to register as a sex offender because of the nature of the charge of which he was convicted.

For now, Cosby is confined to his Montgomery County home.
