Colorado shooting leaves 4 wounded, 1 dead

Across the border, one deputy police officer was killed, and multiple others were injured during a disturbance call in a Denver suburb early today.
Police in Douglas County have identified the officer who was killed in the line of duty as 29-year-old Zackari Parrish.
Parrish and the four other officers were hurt when a gunman opened fire.
At an apartment complex in a suburb about 16 kilometers south of Denver, it happened around six o’clock this morning.
Sheriff Tony Spurlock fought back tears as he spoke to the media earlier this afternoon.
Spurlock told the media the four other officers hurt during the shootout are all in stable condition. They are between the ages of 28 and 41. At one point he said there were well over 100 rounds fired.
A procession was held as the body of the deputy who was killed was taken from the hospital.
According to the sheriff’s office, the gunman has been shot and killed.
Sheriff Zackari Parrish had only been with the department for 7 months. Police say he is survived by his wife and two children.
