The Ontario government is increasing access to fertility treatments.

Starting next year, the government will expand funding for infertility services to improve affordability and access. They’ll pay for the cost of one cycle of in vitro fertilization per patient.

Ontario Health Minister Deb Matthews says, “Over the next few months our government will be consulting with experts on how to best implement this initiative, and I am very pleased that the Adoption Council of Ontario is supportive of this initiative.”

According to Matthews, the expansion of the funding for infertility treatments will cost $50 million. By expanding access to IVF, the government could fund around 4,000 people.
