Canada Bread sale approved

Canada Bread has officially been taken over by one of the world’s biggest bread companies.

Shareholders have approved a plan to have the firm taken over by Mexico’s Grupo Bimbo. The Canadian competition bureau has approved the deal worth $1.83 billion.

The deal will close by the end of June.

There is a Canada Bread plant in Hamilton, but it’s unclear what this deal means for that location.
